Wedding ceremonies that just don’t fit you as a couple
Guest books that get tucked away, never to be seen again
Edible favors that you forgot to eat
A unique ceremony that you’ll always cherish
A way for guests to share their love and well wishes with you
Something to remind guests just who you are as a couple and to thank them for their presence
You want your wedding to be forever remembered both by you and your fiancé, and the loved ones with whom you share it with. Adding personal touches and creativity to your wedding will ensure everyone walks away thinking… “That is so like them!”
Here are four ways to personalize your wedding to fit what you and your fiancé embody, both as individuals and as a couple.
1. A Reading- Choose a quote, saying or bible verse that speaks to you and your fiancé. It can be a meaningful quote from a book or movie you both love, or a bible verse that means something and expresses the love you share for one another. Yes, planning the details of the reception and party are fun, but the ceremony is the time where you dedicate your life to your spouse, and represents the joining of two people. Take the time to make sure you have added a personal touch to the ceremony, and that it resonates with both of you.
2. A unity “something”- The significance of lighting the unity candle is to represent two families or two people now becoming one unit. You can participate in this meaningful ritual, and still show a bit of your personalities and taste as a couple. Are you both outdoorsy? Why not plant a tree with soil from your families’ houses? Do you both love art? How about painting a heart with two different colors? Be creative and you’ll appreciate and remember the moment forever.
3. Your Sign In book- If you love to fill your bookshelves with your favorite paperbacks, then yes, a traditional sign in book is great for you; but it isn’t the only option! Have your guests create a “bucket list” for you by writing their ideas down and signing it. Tie in your vintage theme with the use of a polaroid camera, where people can take a picture of themselves that day, and leave you well wishes in the margin below. Like to travel? Have your guests sign a globe you can keep in your house or office.
4. Favors- Mints, Hershey’s Kisses, and boxes of candy are all great favors… but they are also favors that your guests have received before, and will probably eat before the night is over; so add some flair and fun into this detail. Are you and your fiancé self-proclaimed foodies? Bring in a specialty jam, local honey, or monogrammed sugar cookies for guests to take home, and display them at each place setting or in a matching container near the exit. Love nature? Leave seed packets for each guest along with a sweet note.
Your wedding day is meant to share your love and devotion for each other with your family and friends, so get crazy and add some personality and creativity to the details. Your guests are sure to remember them!
